TENYENHUIS, ROSE AND SMITH

WIN WASA TITLES IN NEW JERSEY

Patti Tenyenhuis, Saugerties, NY, Linda Rose-Keefe, No Arlington, NJ and Leanna Little-Smith, Bronx, NY, were each the winner of a Women’s All-Star Association (WASA) title where $4000 was offered in three separate tournaments held on August 11th.

Averaging 227 in qualifying and leading the field into the six game round robin match play finals, Patti won five of six matches and stepped back into the

winner’s circle, capturing her third title and a check for $500.

It was not an easy road through the finals as Patti lost her lead after the semi-final match as Jennifer Russo, Monmouth Junction, NJ, shot a 247 to take a

27 pin lead heading into the final position round.  As the finalists are awarded 30 pins for each match won, Patti regained the lead beating Jennifer,

213-190, however had to watch her fate from the bench. Bowling in her first WASA event, rookie, Michele Kielawa of Valley Stream, NY needed a double

in the tenth to win, however a solid ten pin stood and Michele had to settle for second place.

Other finalists include Val Johanneson, Long Valley, NJ, who shot a 300 in qualifying, Latoya Tull, Mount Vernon, NY and Diane MacLeod of Brick, NJ.

Held in conjunction with the main, event, WASA offers a monthly senior tournament open to women who have attained the age of 50.  Linda Rose-Keefe

of North Arlington, NJ, won her tenth senior title and second one of the season, as she averaged 226 for her six game block of 1360, which included a

Tartaglia, Rye Brook, NY (1268), Jane Lampugnani, Philadelphia, PA (1265), Olivia Rice, Baltimore, MD (1187) and Rebecca Webb of Mamaroneck, NY (1184).

Bowling in her first classified event, Leanna Little-Smith, Bronx, NY, shot a final game of 268 in her six-game block (1309), averaging 218, to win her first WASA

title.  Suzette Draper of Dumont, NJ fell just 4 pins short with her 1305 total .Other cashers include Georgette Hill, Edgewater, NJ (1200), Rebecca Webb, Mamaroneck, NY (1184), Donalle Effort, Sleepy Hollow, NY (1146) and Maureen Richard, Lincoln Park, NJ (1143).  WASA’s classified event is open to women who average 193
