Cara Lukosius wins Storm Tournament of WASA Champions

Nancy Tartaglia captures Senior Title

Lori Gold takes home Classified Event

 

In three separate tournaments, $7,500 in prize money was up for grabs in WASA’s year end tournament competition held at Howell Lanes in southern New Jersey.  Once again sponsored by Bill and Barbara  Chrisman, CEO and Dave Symes, President of Storm Products, this annual event is the season finale and includes WASA champions and eligible current season point leaders.

CARA LUKOSIUS, Brick, NJ, won her sixth career WASA title and a $1200 first place check in the annual Tournament of Champions event.  Seeded second behind high qualifier, Jennifer Swanson of Shelton, CT, Cara took an early lead after the first game of the six-game round robin match play finalsand led wire to wire with a comfortable 93 pin lead heading into the final position round.

With a 223-212 win over Cara in the final round, Swanson held on to second place over third place finisher, Leslie Bohn of Jackson, NJ.  Other finalists in order of finish include Michele Kielawa, Valley Stream, NY, Terri Bollinger, West Grove, PA and defending champion, Jen Russo of Monmouth Junction, NJ.  Cara shot a 300 game in the match play finals.

NANCY TARTAGLIA of Rye Brook, NY now owns a second senior title, averaging 203 (1222) for her six-game total.  Nancy earned a first place check of $400.  Just 26 pins behind, Jayne Lampugnani of Philadelphia, PA and Linda Rose-Keefe of No. Arlington. NJ tied for second place with their 1996 total.  Other cashers include 17-time senior champion, Linda Goodling, Willow Street, PA (1177), Margie Cook-Bowers, Baltimore, MD (1125), Andi Whitlock, Middletown, DE (1120), Sandy Carrigg, Langhorne, PA (1100) and Lois Steindl, Howell, NJ (1049).  Senior events are open to women who have attained 50 years of age.

LORI GOLD, Howell, NJ, won her second classified event of 2007, a separate tournament offered to women bowlers whose average does not exceed 193.  Lori’s 1196 six-game total earned her a $400 payday.  Four-time classified champion, Andi Whitlock, Middletown, DE, earned $250 for second place honors with her 1120 total.  Other cashers include Diana Ragusa, Staten Island, NY (1056), Lois Steindl, Howell, NJ (1049), Sue Lapp, E Petersburg, PA (1041) and Gail Kelly, Philadelphia, PA (1022). 

 

In a special awards presentation, Jennifer Swanson, Shelton, CT, won the Barbara Leicht-Bowers Memorial Bowler of the Year Award for the fourth consecutive year.  Jennifer won 3 titles in 2007 and also took home the Pearl Keller-Jean Fish high average award for her 224 average maintained throughout the 2007 season.  In a close race, Sue Lapp of E. Petersburg, PA, was named the Lisa Maurice Rookie of the Year and Linda Rose-Keefe of No. Arlington, NJ won her third Senior Bowler of the Year award.  In another close race, Andi Whitlock of Middletown, NY repeated as Bowler-of-the-Year in the Classified Division.
