JENNIFER SWANSON WINS AT PENNDEL LANES

JAYNE LAMPUGANAI WINS SENIOR EVENT

PATTI BALCOMB WINS CALSSIFIED EVENT

WASA rolled into the Penndel bowling center with three very talented champions back in the winner’s circle.

They all have different games, two are right-handed, and one is a lefty.  They all have enough experience to compete against the best female bowlers on the East Coast and two bowl in the same league at Morrisville Lanes, the Keller Williams Mixed Scratch Classic.

Jayne Lampugnani of Philadelphia, PA, claimed her third senior title, as Patti Balcomb of Levittown, PA won her second classified event.

Lampugnani’s nine game total of 1923 allowed her to advance to the finals of the Open division.  In match play, she started off with a pair of victories, defeating Diana Kurrass, Patchogue, NY, 190-182, and Monmouth Junction’s Jennifer Russo, 204-202.  In her third match, she fell to the current top-rated WASA bowler, Jennifer Swanson of Shelton, CT, 232-174, who currently owns 24 titles, 5 short of the all-time record of 29, held by Patti Costello of Scranton, PA.

Heading into the final position round, Lampugnani, trailing by more than 70 pins, thrilled all in attendance, by rolling the final seven strikes to force Swanson to mark in her final frame.  After leaving a stubborn 10-pin, she converted the spare, essentially securing her 25th title by a mere four pins.

After a slow start, Balcomb notched her second classified title, by finishing with a 224, 225 and 224, for a six game total of 1203.

Chuck Pezzano, PBA Hall of Famer and WASA’s consultant for the past 37 years,  could not be in attendance to watch his granddaughter, Mandy, compete in her first tournament as an adult.  The talented 22-year old Cornell law student advanced to the finals with a sixth place finish.

Hope to see you there.
